Grandma at 99/Poppits Invading

Grandma at 99/Poppits InvadingAcrylic and collage mixed media on canvas, 30″ wide x 36″ tall

This Painting is the seventh in a series that accompanies a book about a young girl named Eva who must care for her elderly grandmother alone. This book is based on my own experiences as the caretaker for my 99 year old mother, who often has vivid fantasies of and interactions with mythical creatures that only she can see. Here she is pictured describing a horde of invading poppets. In the painting I am invisible to the viewer, as the poppets are invisible to me, and not pictured in this close up of a larger work.

Others in this series include “Je suis Votre Ami” (said the crocodile), Death and the Maiden, Mermaid and Turtle, and Magic Puppet Palette.
